Weather:
Winds started out nearly calm, becoming light to moderate, and were mostly
from the east northeast. Skies were mostly clear in the morning, becoming
partly cloudy and then overcast in the afternoon. Temperatures were in the
seventies to low eighties.
Raptor Observations:
We had a very nice flight of peregrines, Cooper's Hawks, and Ospreys today.
The lack of sharpies seems strange. Hopefully we will have more of them
soon. We watched a Bald Eagle chase an Osprey with a fish until the Osprey
dropped its catch, and the eagle caught it in midair.
Non-raptor Observations:
There was an excellent flight of 82 Great Blue Herons today. Other
observations included:
10 Canada Geese
7 Red-bellied Woodpeckers
6 Killdeer
2 Tricolored Herons
1 Great Horned Owl
1 House Finch
1 Wood Duck
45 Monarchs
