Official Counter: Anna Stunkel
Observers: Joe Beatty, Ned Brinkley, Steve Thornhill
Weather:
Moderate winds were variable and often from the northeast, with mostly
clear skies and temperatures in the sixties to low seventies. We have
really lucked out with this beautiful weather.
Raptor Observations:
Mostly Ospreys were moving, with a little burst of kestrel activity late in
the afternoon. A small kettle of nine very high broad-wings was seen around
mid-day.
Non-raptor Observations:
There was quite a bit of passerine activity again this morning, with many
of the usual suspects busily hopping around at the forest edge behind the
platform (Black-and-white Warblers, redstarts, yellowthroats, etc.). Blue
Grosbeaks were very active today, and a female was busy feeding a fledgling
in the pokeberry. A single flock of eight Common Nighthawks flew overhead
this morning. Other highlights included:
2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks
1 Bay-breasted Warbler
1 Yellow-bellied Flycatcher
11 Monarchs
1 Viceroy
