Weather:
Light winds were variable in the morning, becoming mostly from the west
during the afternoon. Skies were mostly clear with a few clouds in the
afternoon. Temperatures were in the sixties to mid eighties.
Raptor Observations:
We had excellent numbers and species diversity today. Many kestrels,
accipiters, and Ospreys were on the move in particular. We also had a few
broad-wing kettles with ~20-45 birds in them. Birds were very high in the
morning, but they came down nice and low in the afternoon.
Non-raptor Observations:
There was a good amount of passerine activity in the trees behind the
platform this morning, with plenty of American Redstarts and other
warblers. Other highlights included:
70+ northbound Northern Flickers
2 Common Nighthawks
2 Red-headed Woodpeckers
1 Scarlet Tanager
36 Monarchs
