Weather:
Winds were relatively strong in the morning, becoming lighter in the
afternoon. Wind direction was mostly from the southwest, with partly cloudy
to clear skies and temperatures in the fifties and sixties.
Raptor Observations:
There was a nice burst of low-flying harriers and Bald Eagles this morning.
Merlin activity picked up this afternoon, and we had some nice views of a
couple of peregrines.
Non-raptor Observations:
There was a big incoming of [you guessed it] our little friends the
Yellow-rumped Warblers today. Other observations included:
35 Blue Jays
25 Black Scoters
20 American Goldfinches
16 Pine Siskins
5 Purple Finches (including three beautiful birds that perched in plain
view in the nearby cherries)
1 Brown Creeper
1 Chimney Swift
1 Dark-eyed Junco
1 Eastern Meadowlark
1 Red-headed Woodpecker
1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
43 Monarchs
