Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: Anna Stunkel
Observers: Joe Beatty, Wes Hetrick
Weather:
Light to moderate winds were mainly from the southeast, with mostly clear
skies and temperatures in the high forties to mid sixties.
Raptor Observations:
It was nice to have a few harriers go by low and close.
Non-raptor Observations:
A highlight of the day was a large, distant flock of ~180 Snow Geese on the
east side. Many Common Loons were migrating over land this morning. Other
observations included:
2 American Pipits
1 Pileated Woodpecker
1 Pine Siskin
43 Monarchs
1 Buckeye
1 Cloudless Sulphur
Predictions:
Today was the last day of the official 2017 hawkwatch season. However, some
raptors and other birds will still be on the move, especially following
cold fronts and on days with northeast winds. Many heartfelt thanks to all
who helped out and visited the platform this year!
