Howdy all,
Two big stories for the day here at Kiptopeke. The better of the stories was
the total number of HERMIT THRUSHES that were around today. By the hundreds.
We ended the day banding 50 of them. The not so good story was the lack of
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. We only banded 119 of them (26 less than yesterdays
wind blown total). Bunch of them around, just not in the nets. Kind of a
bummer
there. Also had more sparrows around today.
We also caught our first AMERICAN WOODCOCK of the season today as well. I
will post pics of it on the blog probably tomorrow. Since its Halloween and
all, tonight might get a bit crazy! ;-)
Anyway, a beautiful day. And its about time! Tired of all the wind!!
Side note, I heard two NEGATIVE reports of the SNOW BUNTING that has been
hanging around the fishing pier. Not sure what that means but I will try to
keep all of you informed. If I hear more.

Brown Creeper 2
