Howdy all,
Well the rain held off for the most part this morning to allow for a little
banding. Although we didn't catch many (only 8) it was well worth it when we
caught a KENTUCKY WARBLER. A very uncommon capture here. It was only the 37th
one banded here since 1963.? By far the most uncommon bird to be banded here so
far this early season.
We also caught another BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER.
Totals for 8/28:
Prairie Warbler????????????? 1
Black & white Warbler?? 2
Kentucky Warbler????????? 1
Ovenbird?????????????????????? 1
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher??? 1
Carolina Chickadee??????? 1
Red-eyed Vireo????????????? 1
TOTAL------------------------- 8
Of interesting note, most of the birds caught today were extremely fat,
including a monster 15.2 gram Black-and-white! (They average 10.7 grams)
