Howdy all,
It was another slow day at the station again. This time the wind put a bigger
damper on the netting effort. We were only able to run 12 of the 21 nets,
keeping some of the better nets closed. We had one run that caught 11 birds all
in the same net, and then only two other birds the rest of the day! Yikes! So
if my math is right, we only banded 13 on the day.
Best bird of the morning was a fat YELLOW WARBLER. Also nice to catch was a
WORM-EATING WARBLER. Of particular note, we caught a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT for
the fourth time this season. We banded it "she/he" on the 23rd of this month
and recaptured in on the 24th, 28th and then today, the 31st, each time gaining
weight! Got to love that!
Here's the totals for the day:
Yellow Warbler 1
C. Yellowthroat 1
Worm-eating Warbler 1
Indigo Bunting 3
Field Sparrow 1
Blue Grosbeak 4
N. Cardinal 1
N. Mockingbird 1
TOTAL ---------------------- 13
Cheers,
