Lots of bird movement this past week in the south-central Piedmont.
Thousands of AMERICAN ROBINS as well as hundreds of CEDAR WAXWINGS,
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS have been moving through
on their way south. Waterfowl numbers are also way up and still growing.
Cold and wet conditions usually bring the best birds to our large lakes,
and three great birds (and some other good birds) showed up at Sandy River
Reservoir yesterday and today during the unpleasant weather.
Wednesday, November 8:
- Sneaky LONG-TAILED DUCK in with raft of mixed ducks at base of dam.
