If you haven't contacted me about registering a team for the Kiptopeke
Challenge (KC) on September 23rd, now would be the time. We have 2 Special
Venue teams and 2 Youth teams this year to go along with our 3-hour and
24-hour teams. So grab some friends, come up with a unique team name, and
send
me your information. It's that easy to register your team.
As a reminder, the KC is a "Big Day" birding competition that's open to all
skill levels. Birding can take place on the Eastern Shore, Chesapeake Bay
Bridge-Tunnel, as well as the rest of the coastal plain of VA…basically
anywhere east of Interstate 95. Minimum team size is 2 with no maximum. If
you don't have a team but want to participate, I'll find you a spot on an
existing team.
With all the warblers, orioles, and other birds pushing through our area
recently, it should be a great day for some Fall birding. But it’s also to
support a very important organization. This is the annual fundraising
event for Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory. Check out our website,
_www.cvwo.org_ (http://www.cvwo.org/) , for a description of some of the great
work being accomplished and to learn more about the KC.
If you have questions, please contact me.
