Hello all
This morning I took off early to see if I could find any early migrating
Sandpipers . I found a few but just the usual ones that some times hangs around
in the summer months . I did manage to find a few birds to add to our summer
peak count here in Augusta County. Below is a list of birds found this morning.
Canada Goose -- 146
Wood Duck -- 45
Pied - billed Grebe -- 1
Great Blue Heron -- 10 While on this species our total count from the two
rookeries is 98 fledged G B Herons . The Sangers Lane Rookery had a total of
14 nests with 45 + young . As of today only one nest left has 4 young about
ready to fledge . The Franks Mill Rookery had a total of 19 nests with a total
of 53 young . As of today I could not see any activity in the nests .

Tree Swallow -- 257 +
Cliff Swallow -- 79 +
Barn Swallow --- 258 +

Not a bad way to end this summer according to the birds .
