3 Song Sparrows are in a nest in our garden. As of Wed the 27th they
had not hatched. This gives us a late egg date of the 27th; and
possibly as late as the 30th if they hatched today. Virginia's
Birdlife gives the egg dates as April 5th - Aug 2 for the Mountain &
Valley region. I believe this is at least the 2nd brood for the
mother, as I observed a nest less than 60 ft away from the current
nest in April. I also saw the parents feeding fledglings earlier in
the summer.
