Yesterday morning (Sunday 11/4) I walked to the little lake back in the woods
behind my house in eastern Buckingham County and was surprised to find a late
Osprey (Gold Book lists normal late date as October 25). Also on the lake were
14 Green-winged Teal, 24 Ruddy Ducks (both new highs for this location), two
Mallards, and single Double-crested Cormorant, Pied-Billed Grebe, Belted
Kingfisher, and Great Blue Heron. I also flushed 8 Wild Turkeys at the shore
of the lake.
In the late afternoon, approximately 2500 Common Grackles passed over, many
of them landing briefly in the trees around the house.

p.s. I'm STILL WAITING for my first Pine Siskin and Purple Finch of the
season. The feeders are full and everyone else is getting them... Where are
mine?
