The cold front Thursday night brought in my first three HERMIT thrushes of
the year. They were accompanied by a SWAINSON'S, and I returned to my house
to find another Swainson's in my birdbath.
This is the most thrushes I have ever seen in one day in fall migration.
Checking my records, I see approximately an order of magnitude more thrushes
in the spring than in the fall. So where are all the thrushes during fall
migration? On the coast?
