Today (March 7) as I crossed the isthmus to Historic Jamestowne (about 11:45
am), I found a lone Laughing Gull floating in the water with 14 Ring-billed
Gulls at high tide. When I left three hours later, no sign of the LAGU in the
low tide.
Now I know what a "murder" of crows looks and sounds like. Directly opposite
the parking lot, facing the creek, about 50 Fish Crows were flying back and
forth between a redcedar tree loaded with berries and a bald cypress tree out
in the creek. Very noisy and actively feeding on those berries. They eventually
moved on, south across the historic island. Perhaps they just migrated in and
needed refueling?
