Phil Silas, Bryan Peters and I met up at Leesylvania SP around 7ish this
morning. The sun was slow to appear and bird activity was somewhat subdued,
although there were several good flurries of activity. Highlights included
Black-billed Cuckoo, Red-headed Woodpecker, Traill’s Flycatchers (several) near
the cannon at the point, which was the most active area. We had 6 warbler
species (Yellow-throated, Common Yellowthroat, Black & White, Magnolia,
Redstart, Blackburnian (only seen by 1 of us)). Traill’s Flycatchers were seen
in several locations and I had a count of no less than 8 for the morning.
Bryan & I spent a short time at Julie Metz Wetland on the way home and added a
few species, the most notable being a Broad-winged Hawk flying overhead (and
alone).
