VA Birders,
On an Arlington Co. birding van trip to Blandy Farm, Clarke Co., and
Sky Meadows State Park, Fauquier Co., today, we found a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE at
Blandy Farm just before lunch. The shrike was in some trees in the meadow
along the trail from the observation platform back to the main buildings.
Other highlights at Blandy Farm were several Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, a
Red-breasted Nuthatch, and 2 Hermit Thrushes. Our best birds at Sky Meadows
were
up to 3 Bald Eagles, 1-2 Red-headed Woodpeckers, and a Common Raven.
