Hello everyone -
Wes Teets and I made the trip up to Crozet this morning to look for the
Violet-green Swallow found yesterday at Old Trail Golf Course. As reported
by others, no one had seen the bird by the time we left (about 3 p.m.). Wes
and I walked over to another lake on the golf course southwest of the one
where the swallow was seen (visible on Google maps satellite view) and found
seven Long-tailed Ducks there which were subsequently seen by several other
birders. We also had at least one Rusty Blackbird near that lake along with
a few Hooded Mergansers, some Savannah Sparrows, a singing Brown Thrasher,
and various other species.
