Four days ago, my husband Jim and I observed a male hummer swing dancing over
top of the two 'Wine & Roses' weigela shrubs which have been in full bloom for
over a week. There is a four port nectar feeder hanging in between the two
shrubs. The Tritonia located next to the weigela is loaded with emerging,
orange-tipped bloom spikes. The male hummer must have felt that this spot was a
prime showcase for showing off the quality attributes of his territory. We
could hear a hummer vigorously 'comment twittering' up in a locust tree about
twenty feet away. Once he had done three full display swings he flew up into
the locust tree where the (we assume) female hummer was perched.

Two days ago my husband was working in the front garden bed. As he walked up to
the Chimonanthus he heard a hullabaloo of birds inside. Turns out that it was
two hummers, male and female, who flew out one after the other as he got
closer.
