Hello, birders.
It was a birdy morning at Sky Meadows SP on Sunday. Top bird for me might have
been the Blue-winged Warblers along the Shearman's Mill Tr. For a few minutes
I watched a male and female foraging together near the part of the loop that
runs along the stream in the woods, about halfway down the loop. They called
frequently but never sang. I hope that these two stay to nest. This is my
first record of this pretty species for the park. I hope to search for the
pair later this month or next month. If anyone sees these birds again, please
let me know!
I birded much of the east side of the park in the fields and wood edge. I
encounted 9 species of warblers, including Bay-breasted. Most numerous
migrants/recent arrivals Gray Catbird (28), Blackpoll Warbler (21) and Common
Yellowthroat (16). I found nests of Catbird, Titmouse and Flicker.
