What a week it's been in my backyard, not so much in numbers of migrants as
quality. After the Wilson's Warbler and Least Flycatcher of 2 days ago, early
this morning I was incredulous to hear a MOURNING WARBLER outside my office
sliding door! Not being satisfied "just" hearing it, I hurriedly dressed and
headed out into the wet tall grass to find it in the briar tangles at the edge
of the yard. And happily it popped out for great brief views! It has
continued to sing almost constantly, just outside my window, all morning until
noon. It's been really hard to keep my nose to the grindstone lately!
