Hello all and happy January 3rd,
On January 1st while birding Belle Haven, Fred Atwood, Sayed Malawi, Alec
Brenner and I came across a beautiful drake Mallard x Northern Pintail hybrid.
Alec took some gorgeous pictures of this stunner that I will work on getting
posted soon.
On another note, not happy with how fast your year list is growing? No need to
fret, you are still probably ahead of Noah Strycker a world Big Year hopeful
who plans on finding 5000 species of birds this year. Using a novel approach to
a world Big Year, wherein he does not ever return home during his epic voyage,
he hopes to break the record of 4341 set in 2008 by Alan Davies and Ruth
Miller. If you are wondering how much better your year list is than his and
thinking that you might as well go ahead and do one yourself, well maybe not
