I saw and then heard a COMMON RAVEN overhead at the Hunter-Hacor Tract section
of Sully Woodlands in Centreville at noon today.
Early in the morning I hit the NY Monument area of Manassas battlefield. It
was hopping with activity but I could only obtain brief and unsatisfactory
views of many species.
TICKS - There seems to have been a recent hatching of ticks in the area
recently. I must have brushed up against a recent hatch of ticks because I
found a mass of several dozen tiny ones on my leg three or four times over this
weekend in the Manassas/Centreville area. I've received two batches of ticks
at the NY Monuments area of Manassas Battlefield and I got one or two batches
yesterday at Elklick Woodlands. Be careful out there if you wade into tall
grass in the region.
