I walked the 5-mile Noland Trail this morning, starting around 7:30 AM and
ending around 1:30 PM. The most common bird encountered was Myrtle Warbler by
far, but there were still quite a few fall migrants about highlighted by a
Nashville Warbler, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, 2 Scarlet Tanagers, and
Black-throated Blue Warblers. Also, some wintering species such as Swamp
Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, Winter Wren, Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker, and both
Kinglets were present in small numbers. A Red-headed Woodpecker flying over
surprised me, as I don't encounter them very often in the Park. Take care,
