The Northern Virginia Bird Club visited Sky Meadows State Park today (Oct. 11).
It was a gorgeous day. We were hoping for lots of sparrows. However,
sparrows were somewhat disappointing, in that numbers and diversity were lower
than expected, but we still had a good day. Highlights were a Lincoln's
sparrow near the group campground, an orange-crowned warbler along the bridal
trail, a late bobolink, many yellow-bellied sapsuckers, solitary vireo,
Nashville warbler, and black-throated blue warbler. Here is the complete list:
