I decided to see what waterfowl have arrived at Mason Neck this morning, and
stopped by the state park overlooking Belmont Bay. Not that exciting, but a
great view of a Common Loon was nice. I also tallied about 200 Canada Geese,
300 Ruddy Ducks, about 2 dozen Lesser Scaup and Ring-necked Ducks, and a
female Bufflehead. A quick stop at Meadowood yielded 2 singing meadowlarks
and over a dozen bluebirds, but little else. Not a great number or diversity
of birds, but it was wonderful to get in the field.
