I went to Mathews County on Thursday and visited Bethel Beach and Winter
Harbor. It was early morning and the tides were about midway. I walked
all the way around to the point at Bethel Beach. Not much in the way of
birds other than a few shore birds. I was amazed at the number of
tracks on the beach...the ones I knew for sure included deer, raccoons,
possum, and many different bird tracks. Several larger ones may have
been eagles. I was there for several hours and never saw an eagle,
egret, heron, or any other large birds with the exception of a vulture.
I did get a few pics of a catbird and some warblers and some cormorants
and terns at Winter Harbor.
Despite the slow birding day, it was a gorgeous day to be outside.
