I must have passed George & Rosemarie Harris somewhere in Mathews today. I
began the morning at New Point Comfort (7:00 am., and then visited Bethel
Beach Natural Area Preserve, South Haven Beach and finishing at North Haven
Beach 12:15 pm. As reported there were large numbers of water birds.
Particularly Red-throated Loon and Surf Scoter; they seemed to be
everywhere.
Other highlights included a steady southward movement of Tundra Swan all
morning. Smallest flock 2, largest 86. I didn't expect to see Sedge Wren,
but saw 3 very well. Each time I was alerted to the birds' presence by a
sharp tchup! call. 2 were at New Point Comfort, and 1 at North Haven Beach.
A Marsh Wren at South Haven Beach was also a highlight.
