I have noticed a few signs of migration around Norfolk the past couple of days.
Last night at around 7:00PM a flock of 4 Common Nighthawks were flying high
above Colley Avenue, another single bird flew alot lower and a few
vocalizations were heard. This morning I found a Veery on the campus of Old
Dominion University on the Quarantine Road path, the bird seemed interested in
a stream of running water but did not take a drink. The Weyanoke Sanctuary has
had the usual suspects along with good numbers of American Redstarts,
Black-and-White Warblers and Red-Eyed Vireos. Single Baltimore Oriole,
Yellow-Billed Cuckoo and Yellow-Crowned Night Heron were also observed there.
Have fun,
