Hello all,
I went by Mill Creek Lake this morning 4-14-09 to see what this front had
brought in. I wasn't dissappointed. When
I got there at 6:45AM I had 10 Long-tailed Ducks. I didn't have a cell phone
so I went and called some people and when
I got back there were 14. Wow. Got great looks. Some of the males where in
breeding plumage. What a striking bird.
You could hear their calls. They were chasing each other and they would fly
from one end of the lake to the other. You
could see the black breast and neck of the males. They were still there when
I left at 11:30AM. I hope they stick around
for anyone to go see. When we left the parking lot we saw 9 Bobwhite going
into the woods. There is also Blue-winged
Teal at the bridge. Go past where you turn to go to Stonehouse and
Thrashers on Rt.778 and pull off just after you cross the
bridge. Be careful at the bridge people go by fast.
