Arrived at Mill Creek about 9:30 a.m. Another birder from C'ville was
there to see the female white winged scoter. We also saw:
female common goldeneye
ruddy ducks
9 d. c. cormorants
pied-billed grebes
ring necked ducks
red shouldered hawk
We drove around to the bridge where the only ducks we saw were a pair of
mallards but the visitor from Charlottesville called a great egret flying
over which then landed on a mud flat very near the bridge! Quite a surprise.
I then drove to Thrasher's lake and saw the following:
2 pair of wood ducks at the dam
pied billed grebe
2 male blue winged teal
female goldeneye
Driving back by Mill Creek on my way home I saw the following:
1 northern pintail
ruddies
ring necks.
On the way home, the sun came out!
