Sorry for the late post, just joined the list – On Monday June 9 at about 11:45
AM, an adult male Mississippi Kite was soaring above the trees of the Frisbee
Golf Course at Bayville Park. I watched for about 15 minutes as it came in and
out of view above the Church Point and Thoroughgood neighborhoods. It is
possible that there were two birds due to naked eye sighting of two birds with
that same flight profile by another birder in the same vicinity, but I could
only verify one male bird, with the classic field marks of the species. My
observation notes can be viewed at the ebird link provided below. It pays to
carry your binoculars when commuting by bicycle!
