Around 8am this morning on Red Wing Lake Golf Course while conducting our
bird survey we (Tom & Karen Beatty, Jayne Munoz & Ann McDowell) spotted a
MISSISSIPPI KITE perched in the top of a dead tree on the 10th fairway. We
were able to get several pictures and video that I will try to post a link
to later. We watched the bird for 10 to 15 minutes before having to move on
(we do have to stay out of the way of the golfers).
The BLUE WINGED WARBLER was sighted on the 12th fairway and unfortunately
only seen by me. The golf course was very BUGGY and Jayne was able to spot a
couple of YELLOW WARBLERS & 3 BLUE GRAY GNATCATCHERS. We saw numerous
Great-crested Flycatchers and lost count of the young Bluebirds, Pine
Warblers and Chipping Sparrows. we identified 45 species today making the
grand total of species identified at the golf course in the two years
conducting the survey 136.
