While leading the walk for the Wild Bird Center store of Lake Ridge this
morning at Occoquan Bay NWR, we were treated to a fly over by a Mississippi
Kite. The bird was up very high, but I was able to get it in my and scope and
follow it. Once it decided to move out it soared the full length of the refuge
at breakneck speed in 15 seconds or less. Also of note on the walk were 3
Warbling Vireos, good looks at Blackpoll & Prothonotary Warblers, a
Yellow-throated Vireo, YB Cuckoos, 4 YB Chats, and a lone female Red-breasted
Merganser.
