Mulberry Mania continues at the (seemingly) lone red mulberry tree at Sky
Meadows State Park in Delaplane. I spotted the following birds plucking the
irresistible berries from the tree: red-headed woodpeckers, blue grosbeak,
eastern kingbird, brown thrashers, cedar waxwings, indigo buntings, cardinals,
goldfinches, red-bellied and downy woodpeckers, a vireo, & more. The tree may
have a weekâs worth of berries left, depending on the birdsâ (& humanâs)
voracious appetites.
Elsewhere in the park, I saw an Eastern Meadowlark; a baby bluebird; several
mockingbirds, including one feeding its baby; gobs of indigos, tree swallows,
barn swallows; & other birds.Â
