Eight members of the Northern Virginia Bird Club came out for a bird walk led
by Joanna Taylor and me. It was a beautiful morning with a nice variety of
birds including several FOS winter residents and a few migrant warblers passing
through. We walked around the lake, up to the quarry and briefly into the
woods. Of the 51 species tallied, Yellow-rumped Warblers were the most
abundant. Other warblers included Magnolia, Black-throated Green, Black and
White, Northern Parula (well seen) and a couple of Palm Warblers. Sparrows
included Chipping, Song, Field, White-throated, and a juvenile White-crowned.
We also saw both kinglets and a few hawks.
Good Birding,
