The yellow-rumps have arrived en mass. Flocks of them were encountered
throughout the refuge, particularly where there are poison ivy vines. Other
warblers encountered were many common yellowthroats, and single magnolia,
Nashville, palm, black-throated green, blackpoll, and yellow-breasted chat. A
common raven was a surprise. It was soaring over the field on the north side
of Charlie Road. It then landed in the trees boardering the golf course and
croaked for a while. Lincoln's sparrows appear to be pushing through, as I
encountered 5. I also saw several flocks of swamp sparrows and white-throats.
At least 50 chimney swifts fed low over the fields once the ground fog lifted.
Other notables were both golden-crowned and ruby-crowned kinglets, 3 house
wrens, yellow-billed cuckoo, and bobolink.
