1020, Dec 31 -- Within a mixed group of songbirds working the bayside reeds off
Kabler Rd. we watched a single Nashville Warbler (LOY!) working the edge of the
reeds for over a minute before it disappeared into the deep marsh. This is not
one of the expected winter warblers to my knowledge. Didn't bring my "Gold
Book" to see just how unexpected this might be.
Other birds present include lots of redwings & myrtle warblers, a few song and
swamp sparrows and a single chickadee. A young harrier was flying over the
marsh and made a few futile attempts at a bird. A single snowy egret has been
sitting on the osprey nest platform most of the morning.
