The tree with the old nest reportedly went down last Thanksgiving; the new nest
is in the vicinity of the old nest. This morning an eagle (female?) was on the
nest, apparently on eggs. Last week they were not on the nest. To view the
nest, take the trail up the hill behind the dam; approximately 200 yards past
the .5 mile post there is a nice bench. From the bench look up toward 10. The
nest and the eagles can be seen with the naked eye. Other than the eagles,
activity on the almost ice-free lake was sparse: a Great Blue Heron; one male
Hooded Merganser; three Gadwall; five Mallards and a handful of Ring=billed
Gulls; no Canadas.
