This afternoon I headed up to Staunton (Bells Lane) to meet up with Allen
Larner and to see the Short-eared Owls that are along Bells Lane. It was great
and necessary to have Allen along - literally he knew exactly where the owls
were. I suspect he knows them by name. There are 7 SEOWs there, and right on
time they became active about 5pm. The light was cooperative for about 15
minutes and then it was gone. I was able to get a few photos that are either
1) in focus or 2) not so grainy that the birds could not be identified. At one
point 2 were chasing each other with lots of vocalizations. All in all, it was
a pretty great trip up there to see them.
