Hey all, the participants on today's Sunday morning walk at NN Park enjoyed a
nice taste of migration, highlighted by ten warbler species: Ovenbird (1),
Prothonotary (1), Cape May (1), Blackburnian (1), Blackpoll (1),
Black-and-white (3), Northern Parula (1), Pine (5), American Redstart (9), and
Common Yellowthroat (4). Associated with the same songbird flocks were several
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and Red-eyed Vireos, a single Baltimore Oriole, among
others. Additional surprises included a lone Semipalmated Sandpiper perched on
a concrete pipeline and a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron along the lake's edge. An
Appalachian Brown was a notable butterfly sighting today. All the best,
Nick Flanders.
