Hello all,
We had a wonderful walk in Herndon's Runnymede Park (Fairfax County)
and the immediate area this morning. It was a nine warbler morning,
and we observed a young Red-shouldered Hawk at the nest. The walk was
sponsored by the Herndon Department of Parks and Recreation. The list
follows:
Great Blue Heron (flying overhead)
Red-shouldered Hawk--a parent and one young (couldn't tell if there
is more than one young one in the nest).
Chimney Swift
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Hairy Woodpecker
Northern Flicker--H
Pilieated Woodpecker--H
Eastern Wood-Peewee--H
Eastern Phoebe
Great Crested Flycatcher
Red-eyed Vireo--all thru the park.

Northern Parula--male and female, female appeared to be gathering
nesting material.
