David Ledwith and I went to a few places today and it was a good March day for
Birding. Here are the highlights of the 85 species tallied.
Breckinridge Rd, Pr Wm Forest Park starting before sunrise: 3 Am Woodcock plus
E. Screech Owl, Red-breasted Nuthatches, GC Kinglets, E Phoebes, Pine Warblers,
and Hermit Thrush
Possum Pt area: LA Waterthrush and Fox Sp
Julie Metz & Neabsco Cr: American Bittern (cell north and west of parking lot),
Gr Yellowlegs, Tree Swallows, Pine Warbler
Veterans Park: No. Shovelers, Palm Warbler (yellow), and Yellow-rumped Warbler
Belmont Bay: Greater Scaup, many Horned Grebe and Great Egrets
Occ Bay NWR: King Rail (thank you Marc)
Mason Neck SP: Common Loon and many Tree Swallows
Alexandria: Prairie Falcon (thank you Will) and Peregrine Falcon (Jones Pt Park)
