The final Huntley Meadows sponsored Woodcock Walk of the season tonight tallied
at least 3 and maybe as many as 5 individual Woodcocks.
We planted ourselves in the recently burned "Back Meadow" (2/3 of the way to
the wetland from the parking area, on the right) and heard the 1st "peent" at
7:31pm. It took awhile for other individuals to chime in but when they did it
was relatively busy with peenting, courtship flights and the occasional
aggression between a couple of males. The last call was at 8:02 pm.
