Tropical Storm Noel did not appear to have displaced many birds toward the
Virginia coast yesterday; a short seawatch 0720-0838 at the CBBT turned up
nothing more exotic than a Black-bellied Plover. I had expected at least a
jaeger, but aside from ca. 150 Black Scoters, 10 Surf Scoters, a Red-throated
Loon,
2 Great Cormorants, and the usual Rock Pigeons and Ruddy Turnstones, gulls
were the only things flying. It will be interesting to see if there were
seabirds observed in Nova Scotia/Newfoundland with this storm - those provinces
saw
the 'correct' side of the system.
