Hi,
I stopped in with the family for an early afternoon walk in OBNWR
yesterday. It was a beautiful, but not very birdy at all, with a lot
of common species not found. Contributing factors might include the
Red-tailed Hawk that seemed to be following us, a bit of wind, the
late hour, and then active duck hunting near the refuge shore.
Highlights would be two female Common Goldeneye out in the middle of
the bay a bit south of Taylor Point, an American Tree Sparrow, and 3
Winter Wrens (which seemed like a good count, considering the day).
Note that the refuge will be closed for a deer management hunt
sometime around the 9th or 10th. Suggest checking the Web site before
planning any visits next weekend.
Cheers,
Russ Taylor
