If you use a smart phone, then the "BirdsEye" app by Bird in the Hand
LLC might be what you want. One of its features is a "checklist" life
list. You can set it to synchronize with your eBird account and then
also check off additional birds in the app that it will remember.
The app is really a smart interactive interface to eBird data, so it
is not a life-listing tool; maintaining year, life, and region lists
is kind of an ancillary set of features in my opinion. Caveats: Bird
in the Hand is trying to actually cover their costs for development
and maintenance of the software, so they have developed subscription
and pay-by-region models. If you are a worldwide birder, then this
would be more expensive than just an ABA NA one. But in general, if
you did not want all of the other features that the app provides, then
the app is overkill. The other caveat is that I do not see any way to
export the data, though I have not thoroughly explored that.
I have no relationship to Bird in the Hand, other than being a
satisfied user who periodically pays them money.
