I spent a very nice couple of hours this morning at Occoquan Bay Nat'l
Wildlife Refuge (Prince William County). All was quiet except for a
remarkably active mixed flock around the marsh behind the two
outhouses near the pond closest to the entrance.
Particular notes: The Solitary Sandpiper was at the big pond closest
to the NWR entrance. At least a dozen Purple Martins were circling
overhead with the Rough-Winged Swallows. Prairie Warbler was all by
its lonesome, on the wildlife driving road (also near the main
entrance).
Afterwards, a one-hour (10-11 AM) visit to Huntley Meadows (bike-walk
trail) produced nothing noteworthy.
