Donald Stokes' "A Guide to the Behavior of Common Birds," published in 1979
(sounds like a long time ago, but Catbirds haven't evolved much since then)
calls the behavior described by Frazmo as the "Wing Flick."Â Says Stokes:Â
"The wings are repeatedly flicked in and out from the sides. The bird is
usually horizontal. CONTEXT: Given mostly by the male as he approaches the
nest . . . "
So it's more likely that Frazmo has a Catbird nest nearby than a bird with a
neurological condition.

perching in several spots in our back yard and engaging in very frequent
wing fluttering. Now I associate wing fluttering by an adult with courtship
behavior, typically a female who is then ritually fed by a male. But I

be going on way too long. It definitely is not a youngster begging for
