The fields beside Beech Grove Rd. (near Wintergreen) have been a good stop for
birding this week. Warblers (Yellow, Redstart, Black-throated Green), BALTIMORE
ORIOLE, etc. Of course MEADOWLARKS are all around as usual. A possible
BLACKBURNIAN left a tree and flew over.
There was an ORCHARD ORIOLE in the tree beside the Nellysford Post Office that
looked like it was in no hurry to leave.
A BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO called and flew around in a stand of tall oaks near the
Devil's Backbone brewery. Also a SUMMER TANAGER. RED-EYED VIREO, and LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSH calling all day on a nearby road.
